(Marriage certificates in source section below would appear to indicate that there are two "Mary Van Wicklins" b. to David and Christiana Van Wicklin. Another possibility is that they are one "Mary" with discrepancies in reported ages.)

David^7 Van Wicklin (Abram^6, Garret^5, Paul^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. abt. 1815, Cramahe, Ont., CAN and was in Elgin, Ontario as a "head of household" by the 1871 Ontario census. David d. 25 April 1894 in St. Thomas, Ont., CAN. (note discrepancy with date of death reported by Judy Houston below)  He married Christiana Van Slyke (b. 12 June 1815) and they had several children--Caroline and possibly Abram?. Christine d. 10 January 1903 in Malahide Twp., Ontario. 

Children: Mary^8 Alvery Van Wicklin, b. 1839, Quebec, Ont, CAN. She married John Wart on 18 May 1859, in Elgin, Ont., CAN.; Abram^8 Van Wicklin, b. abt 1842, CAN. (We find Abram, age 37 in the household of David and Christiana Van Wicklin in the 1881 Census along with David, age 28 and Caroline, age 38.). Death notice for Abraham Van Wicklin indicates date of death as 29 December 1899 at age 57, St. Thomas, Elgin, Ontario, CAN. Caroline^8 Van Wicklin, b. 24 July 1843 and died a spinster 20 November 1908 at age 63 y, 3 m, 27 d. She lived on Lot 11, Concession 2, Malahide. Alymer Express --  Miss Caroline Van Wicklin, Copenhagen, died 3 Dec 1908, in her 64th year, courtesy Georgi Sills via 1 May 06 email); Mary^8 Van Wicklin, b. abt 1847, Brighton, Ont., CAN  married on 28 December 1878 to  Marinus Van Slyke, age 29, a farmer. Marinus' parents are James and Catherine Van Slyke. Mary and Marinis had a daughter Minnie Van Slyke, b. abt 1872. By the time of the 1901 Census, Minnie is age 29 and married to Edward Hashal, age 26 and they have a one year old daughter, Anna Hashal. Mary and Marinus also appeared to have had a son, Henry Grant VanSlyke, b. 3 May ____ (birth year is not discernable on birth registration.;  David^8 Van Wicklin, b. abt. 1853 and d. in St. Thomas, Elgin, Ont. of consumption at age 39 years. He m. Catherine McKay, b. 6 December 1868. They had a son, Cecil^9 Van Wicklin, b. 7 September 1888 and Jennie^9 Van Wicklin, b. 17 September 1890 who were only 6 and 4 respectively when their father died.

29 Dec 1899 Funeral Card for Abraham Vanwicklin, died 29 Dec 1899, age 57 years with poem [One precious to our hearts has gone; The voice we loved is stilled; The place made vacant in our home; Can never more be filled; Our Father is his wisdom called; The boon his love had given; and though on earth his body lies; the soul is safe in heaven.] This funeral card was in the possession of Jennie [Van Wicklin] Earle, Abram's niece. Jennie's grandson who lives in Canton, Michigan, gave this card to Esther Van Wicklin. R10016 Gilbert Van Wicklin 31 March 1909 in Malahide (Lot 11, Conc. 2) at age 83 y, 6 mo, 7 days. He was b. 22 September 1826. He was single and a farmer. Father was Abram Van Wicklin and mother was Elizabeth Carr.

Information on Mary Van Wicklin from Lorine McGinnis Schulze via 11 July 06 email confirms that Mary Van Wicklin was the daughter of David and Christina [Van Slyke] Van Wicklin. Lorine has done extensive research on the Van Slyke family.
